School Lunches
Children can have a school meal or bring a packed lunch of their own
School Meals
School dinners are provided by Aspens and cost £2.75 per day, for Key stage 2 children and £2.53 for Pre-School Children
All Key Stage 1 children are entitled to free school meals.
You may be entitled to free school meals, even if you decide not to take advantage of this every day - speak to the school office for more details
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
If you have a child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and your family income is less than £16,190, please call Cambridgeshire County Council’s education welfare benefits team on 01223 703 200 or apply online at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals to ensure that we receive the Pupil Premium for your child.
Also, if you have an older child who is not currently having free school meals, but would be eligible, please do apply.
- They do not have to eat a school meal every day – just be registered as eligible.
- You can use free school meals just on the days that your child likes the menu, or days you are running low on supplies at home.
- Other pupils cannot tell which children get free school meals because of low income.
Schools in Cambridgeshire currently receive less money per pupil from the government than any other education authority in Cambridgeshire, so any additional funding is really beneficial to our pupils.
Criteria For Free School Meals
You are eligible if you are in receipt of the following:
- Income Support;
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance;
- Income Related Employment and Support Allowance;
- Child Tax Credit, as long as you do not get Working Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) does not exceed £16,190;
- Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999;
- Guarantee element of State Pension Credit;
- Universal Credit (with an annual take home pay of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods).
All pupils in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.
List of services
-
Packed LunchesList Item 1
Parents should encourage their children to eat a healthy packed lunch. Fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps, chewing gum and chocolate are not permitted.
As there are currently children in school with nut allergies, it would be appreciated if chocolate spread, peanut butter or packets of nuts were not included in your child’s packed lunch.
Lunch boxes should be clearly labelled with the child’s name and class
-
Snacks and WaterList Item 3
As a healthy mid-morning snack, we encourage children to bring fruit (fresh or dried) or raw vegetables (no sweets, chewing gum or crisps please). Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils are provided – free of charge – with a portion of fruit or vegetable each day.
For younger children, where parents wish to provide the mid-morning snack themselves, it is recommended that it is prepared for easy eating and stored in a small plastic container. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day.
Drinking water is available on tap in every classroom. It is recommended that every child brings in an individual, labelled water bottle.
